Young Life Katy Area

Young Life Ministries is a christian ministry organization that specializes in discipling high school students across the U.S. and even internationally. The ministry has thousands of employees acorss the country that are given specific high schools to forcus their discipleship on and teach students about Jesus Christ. Young Life has over 20 different summer camp properties that accomadates over 100,000 students annually across the U.S. and Canada. The organization is a non-profit organization, founded by Jim Rayburn in 1938 and has grown to be an international Chrisitan ministry.

I interned with Young Life in the Katy area of Houston in the summer of 2015. I created and led multiple bible studies as well as organized different "Fun Days" over the span of the summer that students had to typically pay for to come to. An example of this was going go-karting on a Monday, June 8th. I also was required to raise $1,500 for my summer salary. I met my requiremtent and then proposed a free "Fun Day" that you can see on my "Projects" page for more detail. This proposal involved me to raise another $1,000 to raise to be able to put on a free "Fun Day" in the fall for Young Life.

Rice Athletics via Collegiate Consulants

I interned with the Rice ticket office in the summer of 2014. The Rice Ticket Office is the Rice University branch of the national organization Collegiate Consultants. The Rice ticket office handles all ticket sales for every sports event Rice competes in. They receive most of their revenue via season ticket sales and renewals.

I specialized in inviting groups to attend football games in the 2014 season. I typically worked with youth football leagues and local church sports leagues. I met with and planned out the group's day for when they would eventually come and watch a football game during the 2014 season. These groups typically ranged between 150 and 300 people who paid for tickets and came to a Rice football game. With these groups committing, the sales team and myself exceeded our goal of groups sales and thus exceeded the overall ticket sales goal for the summer and fall of 2014.

Also helped plan and coordinate the FCA "Gameday Rally" as seen on my "Projects" page.

The Wells Group Inc.

In the summer of 2015, I interned with The Wells Group Inc. part-time when I was not working for Young Life, The Wells Group Inc. is a commercial office furniture dealer that specializes in the automobile, banking, and sports industries. The Wells Group is one of the leading office furniture dealers in Texas and continues to grow. Established in the 1970s, The Wells Group has grown to gain clients like the Houston Texans, 1st Hill Country Bank, and the Gillman Automotive Group.

While there, I created and maintianed an integrated spreadsheet on Microsoft Excel that listed and priced all showroom inventory in one complete file. The inventory sheet is available to all employees and is also hyperlinked on The Wells Group website. The sheet lists all products, specs and prices of inventory availble for sale on The Wells Group's showroom floor.

I also shadowed 2 executives and sales reps- Robert Wells and Scott Guy- and attended sales and design meetings between them and potential or current clients around the Houston Area.

Orgainzations I have worked for during my time at Rice:

These are further descriptions of the organizations I worked for in the past 3 years. I have gained experience in a variety of industries that I believe will help me in my career after graduaiton.

Atec, Inc.

In the summer of 2017, I interned for Atec, Inc.. Atec is an aerospace engineering firm specializing in engine test cells, rocket control valves and rocket battery adaptor plates. Atec has worked with the U.S. Department of Defense, Boeing, NASA and other firms in those fields and has established itself as a efficient, reliable and innovative company. Its rocket valves have been on 131 straight NASA rocket launches. Recently, Atec was chosen as the recipient to NASA's 2016 Subcontractor of the Year Award and was also recently awarded as a Boeing Gold Supplier.

I was the Business Administration Intern and worked various roles during my 9-week stint with them. Despite my title, I worked in many departments including Contracts and Sales, Marketing and Business Development, IDIQ and even helped space engineers in a Residual Assets and Materials Process (RAMP) project in concordance with one of Atec's largest clients - Boeing.

While at Atec, I distributed sales quotes to clients, sales and work orders internally to essential Atec personnel. Based on market research I conducted, I helped find new client leads for the Marketing and Business Development department. I completed a project in IDIQ that will allow Atec to receive quick and overdue government reimbursements that will bring back millions of dollars to Atec. I also took inventory and created a corresponding Excel sheet for the space department in a parts reclamation project known as RAMP that allowed Atec to sell back slightly used products to Boeing - per their request - that will bring in thousands if not millions of dollars in additional revenue to Atec.

CURRENTLY PURSUING FULL-TIME POSITION

I am entering my final summer as a Rice undergrad as I will be graduating this December of 2017. I am heavily pursuing a full-time position within sales and marketing, demand planning or consultation, however I am not limiting myself to those roles.

I most recently interned with Atec, Inc, in the summer of 2017. I hope to work in a sales and marketing or consultation role, but again I am certainly open to positions outside of that field.
